"I was born in Kilmarnock in 1950.
As a young man I studied contemporary art at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson,
James Robertson and Duncan Shanks, and went on complete teacher training at Moray House Edinburgh.
In 1975 I was excited to win a modern art scholarship from the Institute of Cultural Affairs in Chicago.
This enabled me to travel extensively in the USA and Canada, and further develop my skills and my own
distinctive style of modern Scottish art.
My paintings have often been inspired by my love of the Scottish landscapes and I have welcomed the
consistent growth in their popularity. More recently I have also produced images of France and Spain,
which have also been received favourably.
The show at Blairmore features landscapes and the stunning sunsets seen so often on the west coast of Scotland." Davy
